Personal Injury

Over the last 33 years, Alan Farber has represented hundreds of victims injured in accidents.

He has always acted for injured parties and never for ICBC or independent insurers. He has fought hard through the courts and the mediation process for his clients rights. Alan has negotiated settlement in the last five years for a sum in excess of $3,000,000.

In 1998 his clients received from the Supreme Court of BC the highest award given to parents for the tragic loss of their child.

Helpful Hints:

The following are some suggestions to assist in dealing with a personal injury claim as a result of an accident.

1.                   Generally recovery from whiplash type injuries take longer than people anticipate, so be patient and do not try and do too much.

2.                   Try to get all the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all parties and witnesses who were at the scene of the accident.

3.                  Don’t let a lengthy period of time elapse before contacting the witnesses and requesting a written statement from them, as their memory of the incident will disappear over time.

4.                  As soon as possible after the accident, sit down and make a memorandum to yourself as to how this accident occurred.

5.                  If possible, take pictures of the site where the accident took place.

6.                  See your doctor as soon as possible after the accident, so you can follow your doctor’s advice with respect to recuperation.

7.                  Keep all receipts for money expended with respect to the accident including, taxicabs, parking, and medical expenses.  You may be able to be compensated for any money spent as a direct or indirect result of the accident.

8.                  Keep a diary of your injuries.  It is not necessary to be extensive, but notations about how you feel, what medicines you are taking and the doctors you are seeing on an ongoing basis will be helpful, especially if the recovery takes a considerable period of time.

9.                  Remember, memories fade quickly.  Some short written notes may prove very helpful when dealing with ICBC or preparing for trial.
